If you live in Toronto, I am sure you are sick of all this rain and if you’re anything like me, you are annoyed at how it limits your fashion choices. Here are a few tips I have on how to dress for a rainy day!

Wear a hat:

wearing a hat is for sure my #1 tip for how to survive a rainy day. Depending on the type of hat, it can act as an umbrella. A fedora is my favorite for this trick – no need to hold up an umbrella, getting your hand all cold and wet to keep the rest of your body dry. A cap is also a good choice as they usually sit tight on your head and all you need to do is tip your head down to keep the rain from hitting your face. If you’re wearing a coat with a hood this doubles the protection as it will cover your neck and hair while your cap protects your face.

Wear a long coat or jacket:

wearing a long coat like a trench will keep your clothing nice and dry underneath ensuring you stay comfortable. This is also good if you end up needing to sit on a damp bench after the rain stops. It will protect your bottom from getting wet!

Wear boots or water resistant shoes:

a bunch of brands have some super classy rain boots but I’m more for wearing regular booties or boots. They are designed for winter so usually do the job of keeping your toes dry.. unless your running through puddles that is. Leather or patient leather in specific usual gets the job done. Try to stay away from suede and fabrics!

Avoid white bottoms:

White bottoms can be a tad bit dangerous to wear on rainy days. Its easy to kick up muddy water or splash up puddles that might dirty the bottom bit of pants or skirts. Also if you happen to get soaked, white has the tendency of going sheer/ see though when wet!
