You can not receive if you do not ask.

With all the holiday craziness, it looks like I missed a couple Monday posts, so I decided to write up a quick little tip. As the title to this blog suggests, its all about asking companies to honour a listed price on merchandise being sold. I have scored a ton of amazing deals this way, by picking something up in a store that was miss-priced and simply asking if they would honour the price. There is a little bit of a trick to this though.. if you realize that it might be a miss-marked item I wouldn't ask someone on the floor to clarify – I would go straight to the cash as if you were purchasing the item, if it rings up at a higher price, show the cashier the listed price and then ask the magic question - "can you honour the price?". I am telling you, the majority of the time the cashier will do it because they know it was the companies mistake for listing the wrong price. If you don’t ask, you can’t receive. This actually just happened to me on Boxing Day. I went into the shoe store L'Intervalle and they were having an additional 40% off all their shoes. I picked one up and it said $59.99. That meant I would get the gorgeous “made in Spain” leather boots for under $40. When I took them to the cash, the cashier said that they should be $99 but they will honour the listed price for me. It was as simple as that! Keeping an eye on things that are miss marked is a great way to pick up some great deals. Sometimes you need to be a little bit assertive, but the store will usually take the fall for their mistake.
