Toronto Premium Outlets - What You Need To Know

In the summer of 2013, the fashion community felt a big win in the GTA. Toronto Premium Outlets (TPO), Canada's first premium boutique outlet mall, opened up in Halton Hills - about 40 minutes outside of the Torontos core. As this might be a bit far for some, I thought I'd give you the low-down on one of my go-to shopping malls. (BONUS: as of Winter 2018, they opened up a whole new wing with a bunch more high-end designer stores!)

For starters - the mall itself is outdoors. Personally, I love the idea of walking outside and getting fresh air while I shop, but it's important to come prepared. Warm clothes in the winter, and comfy shoes in the summer! 

Now, on to the best part:

Some of my favorite shops at TPO are Aritzia, Club Monaco, Tory Burch, Kate Spade and Restoration Hardware. Below is a brief description of each, with some tips and shopping secrets I hope help you! 

Aritzia - The Aritzia opened just a few months ago and I definitely think its worth a visit. Think of Aritzia during one of their sales - those are the type of deals that you can expect here. Also, if you are looking online at their sale items but can’t find them in store, this location would probably have it. Give them a call before you make the trip!

Club Monaco –  Hands down, one of my favorite stores at TPO. It's small, but I always seem to find something I like. Even better, the entire store usually has markdowns with an additional 30%-40% off! They also have a clearance area (my favorite) where you can score 50%-60% off the last ticketed price.

Tory Burch – Honestly, I am a sucker for a nice Tory purchase and TPO is definitely the bet location to find one. They have a variety of products - from purses and wallets to clothing and an amazing shoe department!  Recently, every time I’ve been, they've had an additional 40% off the entire store with certain collections at 50% off outlet price. Amazing.

Kate Spade – I have found SO many cute and funky pieces at this Kate Spade outlet! The pricing at the outlet is quite a bit cheaper than most but they also have specific collections that are only sold at these types of outlets. You can find some of the original Kate Spade products in the clearance area every once in a while, too. The sales at Kate Spade can run from 40% + 20% off to 60% + 20%. Definitely worth taking a peek if you want a “designer” bag without paying the big bucks!

Restoration Hardware – Full Disclosure: RH is crazy expensive, but there are TWO outlets in Canada which offer reduced pricing - one in British Columbia, and the other right here at TPO. This point on its own makes it worth taking a look! If you get lucky (or call ahead), you'll walk in on one of their promotional days where they offer an additional 40% off your purchase. These sales happen every few months, so if you are patient, you can definitely get a decent deal here (usually still quite pricey, but you never know!).

*** [Designer Time] Two of my favorite high-end designers just opened up outlet locations at TPO – Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. Yes, I definitely went in to see what types of deals they had! ***

Gucci – At TPO, Gucci has sales on their bags with 30% off retail price. Not bad, if you are set on a Gucci. That being said, they only have select lines at the moment - none of them have really tickled my fancy. But, you never know what they might stock in the future! Also, expect to have 40% off their apparel, sunnies, shoes and belts.

Yves Saint Laurent – This outlet impressed me a little more. They have similar deals (30%-40% off retail price) but their selection was much nicer, in my opinion. They had some more classic pieces from previous years' collections. That definitely got me thinking if I could afford another designer bag.
